Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba announced her separation from her husband Ryan Tham. In India, getting a divorce is still taboo in society. Minissha Lamba and Ryan Tham have tied the knot in 2015. However, their marriage did not last long and the couple has decided to part ways last year.
Minissha Lamba On Her Divorce
In a recent interview, Minissha Lamba opens up about her divorce and the taboos attached to it. She said when the relationship is toxic, walking out is the right option.
“I would like to put it like this: Everyone has the right to live happily. Divorce was looked down upon in our society but now that women are self-dependent and can voice their opinions, things have changed. Earlier, only women were responsible to bear the burden of a relationship. They had the sole responsibility for all the sacrifices (required). But now, they have understood that they have the right to walk out if they are not happy in the marriage.”
“Divorce is not easy but when the relationship is toxic, walking out is the right option. I would like to add that relationship or marriage can be an important part of your life but it cannot be your complete life. Unfortunately, women are recognized by their relationships and marital status. However, things are now changing.”
Ryan And Minissha’s Marriage
Ryan and Minissha met through common friends way back in 2013. He is an owner of a nightclub in Juhu, Mumbai. The duo dated for years and tied the knot on 6 July 2015. However, things did not go well between them and they decided to part ways in August 2020. Minissha told TOI,
“Ryan and I have parted ways amicably. The legal separation has been done.”
Minissha Lamba made her Bollywood debut with the movie Yahaan opposite Jimmy Shergill. She worked in movies like Bachna Ae Haseeno, Corporate, Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, and Bheja Fry 2 among others. She also participated in Bigg Boss 8.
