Vidya Balan’s new movie Sherni released in the Amazon Prime Video recently. Amazon Prime has provided some amazing content this month. First, it was the much-awaited web series The Family Man 2, and now Sherni. Sherni is close to reality, and it is about the man-animal conflict. Vidya Balan roars with her performance in the movie. Amit Masurkar has directed Sherni, and he has already impressed with his work in the film Newton.
Sherni Story
The movie opens with an amazing panoramic view of the forest. Vidya Balan plays the role of Divisional Forest Officer Vidya Vincent. She gets a field post after being on a desk for years. It is a remote location in Madhya Pradesh. Vidya is trying to track a man-eating tigress T12 with the help of some trackers and the villagers. The situation goes out of control when a tigress, which is assumed to be a man-eater, maul down a couple of villagers. Vidya wants to transport T12 and her two cubs to a national park. However, it is not an easy job as local politicians and hunters create various obstacles for her. Will Vidya manage to save the tigress? Watch out for the movie to find out.
Sherni Review
Sherni reminds of Avni’s case in Maharashtra. The tigress was accused of being a man-eater and killed around 13 people. She was shot dead in Yavatmal in 2018 by a civilian hunter-led search by some forest department officials. Many social activists and animal lovers called it a cold-blooded murder. The case is going on in the Supreme court, and officials are trying to find whether Avni was a man-eater or not. Vidya Balan, who is known for some scintillating performances in the past, is back with another formidable gripping tale. Sharat Saxena, Vijay Raaz performed their role brilliantly.
Director Amit Masurkar does brilliant work with Sherni. The movie asks the question of whether we have occupied animal’s territory or they have occupied ours. Aastha Tiku’s story and screenplay take you on a jungle ride. The background score and sounds are kept as real as possible. The message is also clear that no one is always the prey or the predator. When confronted with humans, sometimes animals attack, and sometimes they just disappear silently. If you love the jungle, you will love Sherni. We give the movie 3.5 stars out of 5.
