Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan will return on television next week, despite Adipurush‘s criticism. The 40-year-old TV series has regained popularity as fans compare it to Om Raut’s recent Ramayana adaptation, Adipurush. Continue reading to learn more.
Ramanand Sagar’s iconic Hindi TV drama Ramayan will shortly be accessible for viewers to enjoy on the small screen. Shemaroo TV has stated that the legendary show would premiere on July 3. In the 80s TV program, Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia played Ram and Sita, respectively, while Sunil Lahiri portrayed Lakshman.
Adipurush And Ramayan
The news for airing comes as Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan is being compared to the film Adipurush. Adipurush, which is said to be inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana, has been extensively panned for incorrectly depicting the key characters Ram, Sita, Hanuman, and Ravan. Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Devdatta Nage, and Saif Ali Khan star in the film, which was released earlier in the month.
Ramayan Is Back
The channel shared a small clip from the TV program on its social media pages: “World famous mythological serial Ramayan is back for all the fans and our audience. Watch it from July 3, 7.30 pm, on your favorite channel Shemaroo TV).”

Public’s Reaction
When the television network originally announced that it would be rerunning Ramayan, supporters of the show swamped the comment section, saying it was ideal for the “Adipurush virus.” One of them said, “Wah shemaroo tv adipurush ka virus nikalne ke liye.” However, numerous channel viewers pushed them to air Ramayan at a different time and requested replays of a few other TV shows. Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, and Vikram Mastal, who played Lord Hanuman in NDTV’s Ramayan, slam the makers of Adipurush.
During the initial wave of coronavirus, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry rebroadcast the legendary series on Doordarshan because of widespread popular demand. It shattered all records.
Prem Sagar Questions Adipurush
Ramanand Sagar’s son Prem Sagar queried how co-writer Manoj Muntashir ‘conceived such dialogues’ in response to Adipurush. He stated to the news agency ANI,
“Manoj Muntashir is well-informed about Hinduism. I don’t understand how he even conceived such dialogues in the film. It might be a misjudgment that the younger generation would like it. But you can’t do this with the audience. Don’t say it is based on Valmiki Ramayan; give it any other name. Make it a fantasy film. But if you’re making Ramayan, then you cannot hurt the sentiments. People watch this with devotion.”
