With a stellar performance at the box office, “Animal” is poised to join the elite Rs 800 crore club soon. The film raked in Rs 8.75 crore, of which Rs 8.3 crore is only from the Hindi version of it. Thus, the film minted a total of Rs 479.14 crore in India alone by the end of the week. Despite facing competition from Meghna Gulzar’s “Sam Bahadur,” the film’s gripping narrative and powerhouse performances continue to draw crowds. The film collected Rs 431.54 crore from the Hindi version of Animal.

Controversial Reception

While “Animal” enjoys its box office success, it hasn’t been immune to controversy. Critics and some viewers have labeled the film as misogynistic and excessively violent. The CBFC awarded it an A certificate in November, acknowledging its intense three-hour-and-21-minute runtime.

The film unfolds against the backdrop of a tumultuous relationship between Ranbir Kapoor’s character, Ranvijay Singh, and his father, Balbir Singh (played by Anil Kapoor). Ranvijay’s obsessive nature and the threats he poses to anyone hindering his love for his father create a dark and intense cinematic experience. Bobby Deol, essaying the role of the antagonist, Abrar Haque, has garnered acclaim for his portrayal. He reveals that his character is more than just a villain, delving into the depths of childhood trauma. Deol’s brief yet impactful presence as the menacing mute gangster adds a layer of complexity to “Animal.”
