Divya Khosla Kumar’s grievances began when she claimed that Jigra had a striking resemblance to her movie Savi, which had been released earlier. According to Divya Khosla, Jigra had the same plot as Savi. While her film went into production first, she felt that Jigra unfairly overshadowed her work because of Alia Bhatt’s star power and the clout of Karan Johar.

Regarding the issue, Divya Khosla shared her disappointment and frustration with how her project was seemingly overlooked. She said both films share the same story, but my film went into production first. She added it was co-produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Alia Bhatt’s uncle, adding another layer of controversy to the conflict.

Divya Khosla used her Instagram story, to raise her voice by posting an image of an empty theatre. She accused the makers of Jigra, including Karan Johar, of inflating the box office collection despite low attendance and screening.

In her previous post, she shared that I saw an empty theatre, yet Jigra’s opening figures were inflated which needs serious correction. She criticized the larger issue of box office manipulation in Bollywood, asserting that such unethical practices undermine the industry’s credibility.

Divya also accused Karan Johar of using derogatory language to shut her down for this allegation. In her recent interview with HT, Divya Khosla revealed that Karan had allegedly referred to her as a fool for raising these concerns. She expressed outrageous treatment, questioning whether it was appropriate to dismiss a woman’s claim in such a manner. Is it right to call a woman a fool for pointing out unethical practices? She asked.

After Divya Khosla posted about the empty theatres, Karan took to Instagram to reply indirectly, as he didn’t mention her anywhere in his post. In response, Divya stated that it is a large problem in the industry, the star and influential power. ‘If this happens to me, What about those new to the industry?’ she questioned, highlighting the struggle faced by outsiders or less influential members of the Bollywood fraternity.

With a strong statement, Divya declared ‘no one is king here. I was not here to be treated like a subject. She formally opposes the notion that industry joins like Karan Johar have the right to speak to others, emphasizing her established reputation in the Bollywood industry. I’m already well known.’ Divya added, reaffirming her status and calling out Johar PR for allegedly taking a derogatory tone against her.

Divya also talked about Alia Bhatt, who remained relatively silent on this controversy. In her Instagram post, Divya suggested that Alia is already a well-established actress. She does not need to inflate box office collections. Divya acknowledged Alia’s success. But she made it clear that true heroism lies in standing up against unethical practices and not benefiting from them, while heroism is speaking against wrongdoing.
