Jigra Day 1 Box Office Collection

Alia Bhatt is considered one of the most successful actresses in Bollywood. She has surprised the industry with many hits. However, her latest flick, ‘Jigra’ does not provide her with the expected result. Over a decade of dominating the Box Office with multiple hits, Jigra started at Rs 4.5 crore on Day 1.  It is the lowest opening day Box Office collection in Alia Bhatt’s career in 10 years. The film earned Rs 7.45 crore worldwide on its opening day.

The movie Jigra is directed by Vasant Bala. It has drawn attention for its storyline. The storyline showcases a woman’s determination to fight for her brother. The story was quite similar to Divya Khosla Kumar’s Savi. Regarding the theatres, Jigra saw a slight recovery on its second day, with an estimated earning of Rs 6.50 crore, a good increase of 42%. However, the shocking drop on Sunday sealed its fate.

Jigra’s performance fell short of expectations, especially when it was compared to Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri’s comedy film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. VVKWWV on an opening day collects Rs 5.25 crore.

Alia Bhatt’s movies did well at the box office for a decade. Her only film that collected less than Rs 5 crore on its opening day was Highway. It was released in 2014 and collected Rs 3.48 crore on its opening day. Even, women-centric films like Raazi and Gangubai Kathiawadi started well at the Box Office with the collection of Rs 7.53 crore and Rs 10.50 crore respectively. Some films did not do well at the Box Office, but still they started well. Shaandaar and Kalank were flops but had a double-digit opening with Rs 13.10 crore and Rs 21.60 crore respectively. Jigra, based on Prison Break has emotion as its core. But on the same theme prison break, Savi was released in July 2024.

Even, Alia Bhatt and producer Karan Johar were blamed by Divya Khosla Kumar for inflating box office numbers for Jigra. The film Jigra will end its run and will be considered ‘under-performed’ at the Box office.
