In today’s Anupama episode of September 22, 2023, Anupama emphasizes that she could not tell Anuj about the photograph she discovered among Malti Devi’s possessions. She further claims that fate wants Anuj to not view the file and learn the truth on his birthday. However, Anuj only glances at her indifferently. Anuj holds his breath as Anupama hands him the papers, revealing his own birth certificate as well as the invoices for Malti Devi’s donations. Anupama explains to Malti Devi that she is Anuj’s mother and how the two of them ended up meeting on such a significant day.

Anuj’s Outburst
Anuj hears everyone chatting in the background about how they never imagined Anuj could be related to Malti Devi in such a way and be her family. Anuj trembles in pain as Malti Devi approaches and tenderly strokes his cheek with her hands. He then quickly steps back and begs Malti Devi to keep her distance. Anupama is left wondering what is wrong. After what he has experienced in his life, Anuj declares that Malti Devi is not his mother and tosses the documents away. He is not yet ready to accept Malti Devi as his mother. He further taunts Malti Devi, the great Malti Devi, who is merely a good dancer and career woman and knows nothing about motherhood. Malti Devi stays quiet and looks at him with tears in her eyes.
According to Anuj, a woman never becomes a mother by giving birth; rather, a mother’s ideals must be carried in her heart, which Malti Devi sadly lacks. When Anuj describes himself as an unwanted child who was placed in an orphanage as soon as he was born because his mother could not think of him as anything more than a time waster, Anupama breaks down in tears.
Vanraj Urges Anuj For A Second Chance
Anuj is interrupted by Vanraj, who requests that he at least hear Malti Devi out. However, Anuj responds that she has had sufficient time to come back and look for him already.
Anuj asks everyone to mention anything that would have prevented Malti Devi from doing what she did because she already had a profession, a reputation, and popularity. Leela responds that there might have been some compelling Malti Devi to act in a certain way.
Anuj Finds Comfort In Anupama
As he learns the truth, Anuj claims that Malti Devi cannot ever be his mother. He further describes that day as the most horrible day of his life. Speaking on the loneliness and isolation a child experiences at an orphanage, Anuj claims that only Anu understands these emotions because they both have lost their childhood.
He continues, “I’ve seen Anupama be a mother to people she didn’t give birth to, and I want to ask if I deserve Malti Devi to be my mother.” However, Anupama fails to respond to him. Anuj declares that no revelation can alter the reality that Malti Devi will always be a stranger to him.
