In today’s Anupama episode for September 23, 2023, Anuj lashes out at Malti Devi because she abandoned him soon after his birth. Anupama and Malti Devi are both astonished when Anuj gathers those invoices and inquires Malti Devi whether she paid the money to the orphanage out of sympathy and charity. Anuj huffs in mental tiredness, struggling to control his emotions as truths are revealed before him. Anupama tells him to calm down and gives him a hug.
Anupama comments that Anuj is correct in his position as Anuj begins to cool up, but Malti Devi deserves a chance to present her case. Anuj responds that he does not want to hear it. Anupama links her hands in front of Anuj so that he can hear Malti Devi’s side of the story. As a result, Anuj is forced to listen to his mother for a little period of time. Malti Devi’s Story
Malti Devi joins her hands and explains to Anuj that she didn’t leave Anuj to the orphanage out of any duty, but rather because she put herself above being a good mother. She begins by telling the story of her life, describing how she was brought up in a family where girls were never encouraged to pursue careers and were only considered successful if they married.
Malti Devi further claims that despite her best efforts, she was unable to realize her childhood dream of becoming a dancer. She felt stuffy and stifled because her husband never actively supported her to follow her passion, yet she decided to become a mother instead of an artist. When given a second chance, she made the decision to put herself before her child. As a result, she abandoned her baby boy in an orphanage. She then went for America and rose to prominence in the world of dancing.
Anupama Suffers
Anuj declares that he has decided to deny being his mother’s son after all these years, just as his mother had done years earlier. According to Anupama, making a child suffer in such a way is unethical. Hence, no one should criticize Anuj for his hatred of Malti Devi.
Anuj assures Anupama that he has never dissented from her. He further states that she is free to keep Malti Devi, but he won’t live there with her. Kavya explains to Anupama that she must be feeling overwhelmed by the turn of events. She will be the one who suffers the most as a result of this son and mother’s relationship. At the same time, Anuj receives a hug from her and is encouraged to cry as much as he wants.
