AR Rahman Reacts After Pune Police Stops His Concert Abruptly

A day after Police authorities stopped his concert in Pune for exceeding the 10 PM deadline, acclaimed composer AR Rahman said he had a “Rockstar moment” in front of the city’s audience.

The double Oscar winner stated in a tweet on Monday night that he and his band were “overwhelmed” by the concertgoers’ excitement and wanted to “give more” to them.

In a recent tweet, AR Rahman wrote,

“Did we all just have the ‘Rockstar’ moment on stage yesterday? I think we did! We were overwhelmed by the love of the audience and kept wanting to give more.. Pune, thank you once again for such a memorable evening.”

The 56-year-old singer-songwriter also posted a video from the live event, which took place on Sunday evening at Raja Bahadur Mills in Pune.

Following the concert on Sunday, a video went viral on social media platforms. In which a police officer was seen walking on stage and asking AR Rahman, other artists, and organizers to stop the music show because it was already past 10 PM. The Oscar winner AR Rahman said,

“Pune! Thank you for all the love and euphoria last night! Was such a roller coaster concert! No wonder Pune is home to so much classical music! We shall be back soon to sing with you all again!” 

According to news agency ANI. Smartana Patil, DCP Zone 2, Pune Police, “Rahman was singing his last song, and while singing, he did not realize that it was already past 10 PM, so our police official who was at the venue went and conveyed to him the deadline to be followed as per the SC guidelines. After that, he stopped singing.”

According to a senior officer with the Pune municipal police, the musical event was not permitted after 10 PM. In accordance with the Supreme Court’s judgment. “A few minutes after 10 PM, the police reminded the event’s organizers to halt the live show and follow the law.” The planners worked with the police to bring the event to a close.”
