Berlin Movie Review

Berlin starts a bit slow, introducing the characters. Soon, we find out several key information, like little clues, and that becomes quite interesting. The narrative moves at its own pace and gains momentum towards the last 20 minutes. The movie effectively combines several elements of mystery and political interest. The narrative and the direction are top-notch as it amplifies the tension and drama, making for a gripping experience.

Talking about the performances, Aparshakti Khurana and Ishwak Singh deliver exceptional performances. They went through rigorous training in sign language to perfectly portray their roles. Aparshakti Khurana plays the role of Pushkin and captures the character’s internal conflict. Ishwak Singh’s character Ashok is also both enigmatic and poignant. He offers a powerful silent performance that speaks volumes because of his expressions and hand movements.

Apart from them, Rahul Bose also gives an over-the-top performance as the case handler and makes his presence worth watching. Apart from them, all the other cast members have done their job brilliantly. Another portion where Berlin shines is the bond between the actors on screen. However, at some points, you might feel the movie is somewhat predictable and the runtime seems long. It also seems like several territories in the movie could have been explored a little deeper.

Final Verdict

The spy thriller works very well, all because of the portrayals by Khurana, Singh, and Bose. Their performances and narrative make it a compelling watch. Although not exceptional, but this can surely make for a good weekend watch if you’re a fan of spy thrillers. We rate this movie 3.5 out of 5 stars.
