Chhorii 2 Review: Nushrratt Bharuccha Shines In This Socially Charged Horror Thriller

The sequel to 2021 film Chhorii, ‘Chhorii 2’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The film starts with the continuation of the first part. Chhorii 2 stars Nushrratt Bharuccha, Soha Ali Khan, Hardika Mehta, and Gashmeer Mahajani. It is written and directed by Vishal Furia.

Chhorii 2 Story

Chhorii 2 picks up seven years after the chilling events of the first part. Sakshi (Nushrratt Bharuccha) is now living a quiet life with her daughter Ishani (Hardika Sharma), who suffers from a rare condition — she’s allergic to sunlight and can’t step out during the day. Their peaceful world is shattered one night when a dark, mysterious force kidnaps little Ishani.

Enter Daasi Maa (Soha Ali Khan), a sinister priestess with terrifying powers, who wants to marry Ishani off to Pradhan Sahab — an ancient evil that haunts the village. Sakshi and Samar (Gashmeer Mahajani) are pulled back into the same cursed sugarcane fields and the haunted village they once escaped. Now begins a deadly face-off with something far more dangerous — a shape-shifting, soul-hunting Daasi Maa. The question is — can Sakshi save her daughter one more time, or will this evil win for good?

Chhorii 2 Review

Writer-Director Vishal Furia has created a bone-chilling horror with the harsh reality of child marriage. He has kept the eerie atmosphere throughout and decently blended horror with social issues. Anshul Chobey’ cinematography is crisp. Adrija Gupta’s background score properly elevated the chilling tension. Yes, there are some scenes that look over the top, and also the pitch gets slow.

Talking about the performance, Nushrratt Bharuccha steals the show with her terrific performance. Her expressions, body language are top-notch. She perfectly portrays the transition from a mother to a warrior. Soha Ali Khan equally played her part with sincerity. She delves into the character of Daasi Maa. Gashmeer Mahajani and Hardika Mehta were also good with their roles.

Final Verdict

Chhorii 2 is a visually gripping, emotionally layered, and haunting watch with solid performances from Nushrratt Bharuccha and Soha Ali Khan. Just like first part, Chhorii 2 hits hard. It is not just a horror film but also has a social issue.
