Akshay Kumar is back in a role of an intense cop after a long time (don’t count Sooryavanshi, it was a mass entertainer) after Baby, and Holiday. He has been amazing through out the film. Sargun Mehta is brilliant on her debut. She has been top-notch with her performance and dialogue delivery. Rakul Preet Singh looks beautiful and also impress with her act. Chandrachur Singh and Gurpreet Singh Guggi were good in their respective roles.

Director Ranjit Tiwari tries to adapt Ratsasan, but it has a Bollywood flavor. The story and screenplay is spooky and engaging. It will definitely keep you to the edge of your seat. After a long time, you will see the nail-biting thriller. Though in the first half, you will find the story is little slow to get to its rhythm. The second half is chilling that will keep you engaged. There is only one song kept in the film. Once the film gets momentum, it will not let you blink your eyes. The background score is equally spooky and thrilling. One thing that disappoints is that the climax has been rushed. The villain portion could have been more elaborated (This I am saying comparative to its original).

People who have watched the original Ratsasan may not like Cuttputlli as they know the climax. Also, the original is a little more detailed compared to its Hindi remake Cuttputlli. However, if you have not watched the original, we are sure it will keep you engaged. We give Cuttputlli 3 stars out of 5.
