Spoiler Alert: If you are reading this without watching the film, then you should read this after watching the film so that your fun doesn’t get spoiled. For those who are curious, Deadpool and Wolverine do indeed have a mid-credits sequence and a post-credits scene. On the other hand, the mid-credits sequence features a montage of deleted scenes from Marvel films, including the X-Men series, which was produced by Fox Studios. Surprisingly moving, it pays homage to Hugh Jackman’s history as Wolverine and the Marvel universe outside of the MCU.

Regarding Deadpool and Wolverine’s post-credits scene, apologies for breaking the news to those of you who were expecting some Easter eggs regarding the MCU’s next Phase. Rather, the final credits scene brings back a popular MCU actor in an unexpected way, complete with Deadpool’s iconic and hilarious fourth wall breaking.

Deadpool Meets The TVA And Chris Evans’ Cameo Explained

Deadpool, who is known for calling himself Marvel Jesus, returns to the TVA in the hilarious post-credits sequence of Deadpool & Wolverine, breaches the fourth wall as is customary, and proceeds to convince the viewers of his innocence. What was his alleged offense? being the cause of Human Torch’s (Johnny Storm) “fiery” demise. The movie features Chris Evans’ whistle-blowing comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But it’s as Human Torch, one of the Fantastic Four, rather than the adored Original Avenger Captain America.

In the movie, Chris Evans plays the infamous Playboy superhero (in a cameo), who we already know,  is the total antithesis of the ultimate good man, Captain America. Deadpool transports us back to the time when Wolverine, Storm, and Nova’s (Emma Corrin) goons abducted him. Wade Wilson’s recreation of Storm disparaging Nova was extremely offensive. During Storm’s profanity-filled tirade at Nova, Cap would have yelled, “Language!” But Johnny Storm would suffer the consequences of this, actually being “torched” to death by a furious Nova.

Deadpool And Wolverine: Future In The MCU

The post-credits scene in Deadpool And Wolverine does not allude to Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Deadpool 3. We also didn’t receive the signature statement, “Deadpool and Wolverine will return.”

Nonetheless, Deadpool and Wolverine’s strong box office performance ought to persuade the on-screen best buddies to join Marvel Studios as their superhero alter egos. It remains to be seen if they make a comeback in Deadpool 4, a stand-alone Wolverine film, or even Avengers 5.

Deadpool and Wolverine have gone classic meta on multiple occasions, hinting at Hugh Jackman’s potential future in the MCU. Throughout the whole movie, Deadpool taunts Wolverine, telling him that he will continue to do so until Hugh Jackman is ninety-nine. Further, Wade Wilson asks Logan outright in one scenario if he’s up for more Wolverine adventures. Logan pauses before responding, “Probably not.” However, as they say, never say never when it comes to the universe!

Ryan Reynolds On Deadpool’s Return

Ryan Reynolds expressed sarcastic optimism on Deadpool’s return to the MCU in an interview with Variety, saying,

“I don’t know. I could see any version of it. I can imagine a solo movie, being part of an ensemble. I can imagine that this is also the last time. I never feel anything other than that.”
