Devara is a 2024 Tollywood action drama film. Koratala Siva is the writer and director of the movie. The producers of the movie are Yuvasudha Arts and N. T. R. Arts. Additionally, the film stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr in dual roles. Apart from him, the movie also stars Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor in their debut Telugu film. Devara Movie Story
The movie is set in the 1980s and 1990s. It is an epic action narrative which is based on the life of Devara. He is a powerful and fearless man from a coastal region. He is on a journey into the dangerous world of the sea to save the lives of his people.
However, to his shock, his cunning brother Bhaira is planning a conspiracy against him. As things happen, Devara passes on his legacy to his shy son, Varadha. To know what happens next, watch the movie.
Devara Movie Review
The best thing about the movie is that the director skillfully immerses the audience in the world of Devara right from the beginning. Additionally, the movie is quite intense, which is further elevated by adrenaline-pumping action scenes. It marks Jr NTR’s return after the globally recognized film RRR. Meanwhile, after a few scenes, the film seems to settle down as a typical action drama with dramatic dialogues. However, the intense fights and stunts prove Jr NTR’s dedication and physical prowess, raising the bar high.
The performances of the cast members are the highlight of the movie. Jr NTR delivers a jaw-dropping performance that features his acting skills. He effortlessly transitions between intense emotional moments and action sequences. Throughout the movie, Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan’s camaraderie is also on point. Saif Ali Khan wins hearts with his top-notch performance. Although Janhvi Kapoor makes a glamorous entry, she has limited screen time. We can expect more of her in the second part of the movie.
Moreover, just like how people were left with the question of Why did Katappa kill Baahubali, Devara will also leave you with some unanswered questions. This will leave you eagerly waiting for the second part. Anirudh’s BGM is the highlight. The background music is good and effectively elevates the mood whenever required. However, the songs in Devara are a major disappointment, especially in the Hindi dub. At times, the narrative might also seem a little stretched and predictable. The problem is the runtime. The film gets monotonous and trimming it would have been better for the film. The impact of the film focuses more on fight scenes.
Final Verdict
Devara is one of the biggest films of this year in Tollywood. There has been much hype surrounding this film and it somewhat does not live up to that huge expectations, though not completely. However, for Jr NTR and action fans, this can be a good weekend watch. We rate this movie 3 out of 5 stars.
