All is not well in the life of Arjun Pathak, played by Kartik Aaryan. His personal life has gone for a toss. He is all set to divorce his wife, Saumya Mehra Pathak, portrayed by Mrunal Thakur. Even in professional life, Arjun has been demoted from a successful journalist to a radio jockey. One day his life turns upside down when he gets a threat call from an unknown person.

A caller says that he is all set to blow up the Mumbai Sea Link if his demands are not met. The caller demands a concerned minister to step into the television station and apologize publicly for the death of three laborers who helped build the bridge. Arjun does not take him seriously and tells him that he is playing a game. Suddenly, there is a loud dhamaka outside his window, in the distance, and a part of the sea link is blown up.

It gives Arjun Pathak a sense of opportunity to get back his previous assignment as a news journalist with this breaking news. His boss Ankita played by Amruta Subhash, is a TRP rating-hungry boss who can go against any ethics and humanity. What follows is the chaos and panic with the channel wanting to up its rating. Then the game of politics, TRP, conspiracies, scams, humanity, and relationships began. Many people are trapped on the bridge with Arjun’s wife Saumya, too, as she had gone to the spot to report for TRTV. Who is the caller? What does he want?  Watch the movie to find out.

Dhamaka Review

Ram Madhvani did a decent job with Dhamaka. The script is pacy as it does not divert its path because of unnecessary songs. It keeps you engaged. The screenplay is gripping. Kartik Aaryan carries the film on his shoulders with his never seen before avatar. The way he performs Arjun Pathak, a news anchor who wants to regain his lost glory, is marvelous. Mrunal Thakur impresses with her performance. Though she had a limited screen presence, she lives the role of Saumya Mehra Pathak. Amruta Subhash was effective as a channel head.

Yes, Dhamaka has nothing new to offer if you have watched the original The Terror Live. However, it does have some changes keeping the Indian audience in mind. Though Dhamaka may not be explosive enough, it is engaging and makes the right noises. You can watch this movie for some terrific performances and an exciting storyline. We give Dhamaka 3 stars out of 5.
