Dunki has brought in 129.92 crores at the Indian box office thus far. The movie was first available on December 21, 2023. Prabhas and Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, which was released on December 22, 2023, saw competition at the box office. The animal also draws crowds despite its small number of screens. Nevertheless, despite all odds, the Shah Rukh Khan film has had a successful run at the ticket booths.
The film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, made the most of its first long weekend. Despite bigger expectations for the Christmas box office, the movie held its own well. However, the test is about to start as the movie progresses into the weekdays!
According to the most recent information, Dunki added 2.60 crores in revenue through advance booking on day six (excluding restricted tickets). Compared to yesterday’s earnings of 8.29 crore gross, this represents a decrease of over 68%. The comparison won’t be fair, though, given that yesterday was only partially a holiday due to the nationwide Christmas celebrations.
So far, more than 1.18 lakh tickets have been sold. In a perfect world, the drop would have been cause for concern. However, Dunki was produced with a meager 120 crore in funding.
Dunki Covered Its Budget
The Shah Rukh Khan film has already recouped its budget at the box office. Any additional funds brought to the purse are a bonus because it is now operated for profit. Although it may take some time for the movie to be considered a “hit,” considering the genre and Salaar’s competition at the box office, its run deserves recognition.
It should be mentioned that the public’s reactions to Dunki’s premiere were conflicting. However, favorable word-of-mouth has increased over time, which is really beneficial.
