One of the most awaited films, Dunki, finally hits the theatres today. After a drought almost 5 years after his last release, Zero, Shah Rukh Khan has a fantastic comeback. In 2023, he had two record-breaking back-to-back all-time blockbusters, Pathaan and Jawan. Both films crossed Rs 500 crore at the Box office. The expectations from Dunki are sky-high. Dunki also marks the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani. Rajkumar Hirani is known for his terrific storytelling and films like Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK, and Sanju. Now, with the Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan combo, will Dunki join the elite list of Pathaan and Jawan? Here is our review.

Dunki is based on the illegal technique known as ‘Donkey Flight’ for illegal immigration. Four friends, Mannu, Sukhi, Buggu, and Balli, are from a small village in Punjab. They dream of going to London. However, they neither have the money, passport, nor visa. One day, a soldier, Hardy (Shah Rukh Khan), arrives and promises to take them to their land of dreams. It follows a roller coaster and emotional journey that not only tests their patience but also their passion. Will they succeed? Watch the film to find out.

Director Rajkumar Hirani is known for his storytelling. But Dunki is totally different from his previous releases: Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK, and Sanju. Dunki talks about illegal immigration that Rajkumar Hirani crafted with entertainment, emotions, drama, and patriotism. Shah Rukh Khan once again portrays his character with excellence. The touching narrative captures a wide range of emotions, encapsulating the heartening saga of four companions on an exceptional journey.

Dunki Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu played her part equally well. To be honest, when a movie has Shah Rukh Khan, you hardly remember anyone else in the film. But Vicky Kaushal leaves an impact in the film. The way he portrays the role of Sukhi in the film is simply brilliant. Vicky Kaushal also had a terrific year with Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Sam Bahadur, and now Dunki. All the characters have been superb in their performances. The first is good, with a solid second half. Pritam’s music is melodious. Yes, it has some flaws, but they can be ignored.

Dunki is a family entertainment and a heartwarming saga filled with brilliant performances, hilarious drama, emotions, and patriotism. We give the film 4 stars out of 5.
