This year, Filmfare has introduced the first edition of OTT Awards, Filmfare OTT Awards 2020. The theatres were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and even the shooting of television serials was stopped because of lockdown. The audiences were looking for new and fresh content. This is where OTT platforms came into the picture. Though the OTT platforms were popular in India for the last 4 to 5 years. However, the lockdown gave the OTT platforms a much-needed boost. There are many excellent web series and movies released on OTT platforms. This gives audiences new and original content and a treat for the audiences. Filmfare has introduced the first edition of OTT awards, Filmfare OTT Awards 2020.
The web series released between August 01, 2019, and July 31, 2020, were considered for the award show. It was the big night for Amazon Prime Video. Paatal Lok and The Family Man of Prime Video won five awards each, while web-series Panchayat won four awards. Jaideep Ahlawat won the Best Actor (Male) in a Drama Series trophy for his performance in Paatal Lok. Sushmita Sen won the Best Actor (Female) in a Drama Series award for Hotstar series Aarya.
Filmfare 2020 OTT Awards was held in Mumbai on Saturday. Manoj Bajpayee, Mouni Roy, Jaideep Ahlawat, Jennifer Winget, Amruta Khanvilkar, Tripti Dimri, Rajkummar Rao, Tisca Chopra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Alaya Furniturewalla, and were among the celebrities who graced the red carpet at the Filmfare 2020 OTT Awards.
