Since the coronavirus lockdown, all the theatres and cinema halls have shut. The filmmakers are turning towards OTT platforms. There are many movies and web series releasing on digital platforms. Audiences have plenty of options to choose from various contents releasing every week. Recently, in the digital platform ZEE5, Forbidden Love released. It has received an overwhelming response from the audiences.
Forbidden Love is an anthology of four short romantic and unconventional love stories; directed by Priyadarshan, Pradeep Sarkar, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, and Mahesh Manjrekar. Forbidden Love, as the name suggests, the enthralling four stories bring to the fore aspects of love considered forbidden and not accepted by society. The first two movies Arranged Marriage and Anamika premiered on ZEE5 on September 9. They both won a lot of appreciation from the critics and audiences. In addition, the two other Rules of the Game and Diagnosis of Love released on September 24. Below are the reviews of all four short films.
1. Arranged Marriage
The first story of the anthology is Arranged Marriage. Pradeep Sarkar has directed this short film. Arranged Marriage revolves around the story of homosexual couple Dev and Neel portrayed by Ali Fazal and Omkar Kapoor respectively. Due to family pressure, Neel marries his partner’s sister Keya. Patralekha has played the role of Keya. In their marriage, Keya sees a physical distance with Neel. Neel was forced into a heterosexual relationship. Will Neel succeed in living a dual life? Watch out the story to find out.
The story makes you realize how even today homosexuality is still considered taboo. To everyone’s knowledge, homosexuality is not a disease. It is all about beliefs and preferences. The story has strong emotions such as love, lust, loneliness, hate. This makes the first story Arranged Marriage, a true Forbidden Love and it is a must-watch.
2. Anamika
The second story of the ZEE5 Forbidden Love anthology is Anamika. The famous director Priyadarshan has directed this episode. Anamika revolves around infidelity in a marriage without love. It stars Harsh Chhaya, Pooja Kumar, and Aditya Seal. Pooja Kumar has played the titular role of Anamika. Anamika’s husband is a workaholic and he does not have time for his wife. He does not provide her with much attention, love, and affection. Anamika works in a cafe. In the cafe, she falls in love with Ishaan played by Aditya Seal, who is much younger than her. With Ishaan, Anamika feels the intimacy that she was not getting in her marriage. Will, their unconventional love last or the truth will come out? Watch out the movie to find out.
The story breaks the stereotypes of happily ever after and in fact will show you the reality of life. Anamika talks about the vulnerability of the feelings on how affection or love can hold you in a fake life. The story has emotions full of lust, infidelity, and much more. All three main characters have played their part with perfection.
3. Rules Of The Game
The third movie in this Forbidden Love anthology is Rules Of The Game. Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury has directed this episode. It stars Aahana Kumra, Chandan Roy Sanyal. The story revolves around the story of a couple Gaurav Gupta and Priya played by Chandan Roy Sanyal and Aahana Kumra respectively. The couple has married for seven years. Though they are committed to each other, their marriage life has much need spice missing. Priya comes up with a plan to spice things up in their marriage by indulging role play in the bed. However, one of them starts believing in it. The situation becomes awry and the couple lands in trouble. Will it break or make their relationship? Watch out the movie to find out.
Rules Of The Game has many emotions in the form of love, thrill, romance, passion, and possessiveness. The characters have played their part brilliantly. The episode talks about how the lives of the young couple change with time. The episode is a thriller and equally gripping. #ForbiddenLove should not be missed.
4. Diagnosis Of Love
The last one in the anthology of ZEE5 Forbidden Love is Diagnosis Of Love. The famous actor and director Mahesh Manjrekar directed it. The movie stars Ranvijay Singh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Raima Sen, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi, and Mrunmayee Deshpande. Doctor Harsh Thakur played by Vaibhav Tatwawaadi is a surgeon with a dark past. Doctor Sudha portrayed by Raima Sentries to convince the board of a Goa hospital to onboard him. The board is not convinced as he was accused of murdering his girlfriend Kalindi played by Mrunmayee Deshpande in Pune. She was pregnant with his child. But the police have given a clean chit to Harsh.
Vaibhav played by Mahesh Manjrekar is Sudha’s husband. He found Sudha’s affection towards doctor Harsh. Vaibhav brings his family friend ACP Aditya played by Ranvijay Singh to look into this matter. The couple married to 10 years but is unable to bear a child. Vaibhav suffers a heart attack when he finds that Sudha is pregnant with someone else child. It is followed by the murder mystery. What happens next, watch out the movie to find out?
Diagnosis of Love is the perfect combination of love, romance, thrill, suspense, and extra-marital affairs. Every character has delivered an exemplary performance. Do not miss this thriller.
