The showrunner of the series is Nikkhil Advani. This SonyLIV series is produced by Emmay Entertainment and StudioNext. With this, one of the most painful and fraught chapters of India’s history is brought to life. Freedom At Midnight Series Review

The seven-episode series uses the majority of its narrative from Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre’s book Freedom at Midnight. Showrunner and director Nikkhil Advani keeps us glued to our screens with the drama of what happens till the end. The climax is the most powerful episode of the series when the focus finally moves from just the talk to action. The makers did not just skip through the chapters to tell the story, they meticulously delved into the emergence of an independent India.

Speaking of the performances, Nikkhil Advani chooses actors over stars for his new web series. Sidhant Gupta portrays Jawaharlal Nehru and aptly brings the character to life. Chirag Vohra in the very important role of Mahatma Gandhi also shines throughout the series. Additionally, Rajendra Chawla portrays the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and does a fantastic job. The show stealer is Arif Zakaria in the role of Muhammad Ali Jinnah who gave a noteworthy performance.

Furthermore, despite being the youngest among the group, Gupta consistently stands out in the role of Nehru. There are several noteworthy scenes between these characters where everyone maintains an equal pace and presence. However, as we know that there is much more story to be told in the story of India’s freedom, it might seem that the series ends abruptly. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait for too long for the release of Season Two.
