Nafisa Rizvi Khan was a budding rising actress better known as Jiah Khan. Saying that she had a bright future in B-town would not be wrong. But sadly, she could not see the light of that brightness. Furthermore, she made three great films in a career spanned only over three years. During these years, she had an overnight fame. She had excellent acting skills, and the ability to portray a simple as well as a cunning character with great ease was loved by everyone. 1. Jiah Khan’s Debut Was Supposed To Be When She Was 16
While most of us believe that the actress debuted via Ram Gopal Varma’s Nishabd in 2007, this would not have been the exact case. Sounds crazy? Well, Jiah was cast in Mukesh Bhatt’s Tumsa Nahin Dekha. This film came out way back in 2004, and it was supposed to be Jiah’s debut film. However, the director (Anurag Basu) and Jiah agreed that the role was too mature for her. Thus she was replaced in the movie by Dia Mirza, as Jiah was also only 16 at the time.
2. Overnight Sensation With Nishabd
After the failed debut at 16, Jiah debuted via Ram Gopal Varma’s Nishabd in 2007. This controversial love story showcased a relationship between a 60-year-old man and an 18-year-old girl. Furthermore, in this movie, Jiah was against Amitabh Bachchan. She was nominated for the “Best Female Debut” at the Filmfare Awards for her portrayal in this film.
3. Rejected And Incomplete Projects Of Jiah Khan
There were plenty of films in which Jiah Khan was also rejected. One of the prominent ones was Chance Pe Dance, in which she was supposed to be against Shahid Kapoor. She was, however, refused and replaced by Genelia D’souza in the film. Furthermore, the reason behind this was that the film’s director and Jiah both accused one another of lacking character. After that, Jiah signed a few movies, including Udhas Singh’s Aap Ka Saaya; however, this film could not be completed. Interestingly, she was supposed to play Ranbir Kapoor’s wife in the movie.
4. Tragic Life And Unsolved Death Of Jiah Khan
She gave an excellent performance in the 2010 film Housefull. Everyone loved her performance and hoped that she would rise to new heights. However, her life took a tragic turn when on 3rd June 2013, she was found dead, hanging in her Juhu apartment. Sooraj Pancholi was named as the main accused for the death of Jiah.

Interestingly, a special CBI court pronounced its verdict on Friday in the 10-year-old Jiah Khan suicide case. Sooraj was accused of abetting the suicide of his ex-girlfriend, Jiah Khan, who was found dead in her Mumbai apartment in 2013. Pancholi and his family have maintained his innocence throughout the trial. The verdict declared that Sooraj Pancholi was not guilty in the suicide case of Jiah. Pancholi was crying tears of joy outside the court as his family hugged him and celebrated.
