A back story also revealed that the siblings had a rather tense childhood as they lost both their parents at a young age. For them, they are the only ones who are always backing each other with Alia playing a motherly figure for her younger brother.
Jigra Movie Review
The movie has a blend of emotional, intense, and gripping storylines. The most unique aspect is that although the film has several powerful actions, it is an emotional story of brother and sister at the core. The sibling relationship in the film has a universal appeal and resonates well with the audience. It also breaks the traditional stereotypes of brother protecting sister as the narrative shows quite the opposite image.
Director Vasan Bala revives the classic brother-sister bond. He has presented the story with ample emotions. The prison break story is not something new and is predictable. However, the way he brought the emotions and the protective bond of brother and sister is the core of Jigra. The director’s distinctive vision adds depth to the narrative, ensuring an engaging cinematic experience.
Speaking of the performances, the cast of the movie has done a brilliant job. Alia Bhatt is superb as Satya. Her body language is brilliant. The way she portrayed the role of a fearless sister who can go to any extent to save his brother is clap-worthy. Vedang Raina delivers a fantastic performance. It is his debut on big screens after #TheArchies and he has made sure it does not go unnoticed. The on-screen chemistry of the duo feels genuine and very relatable. Alia in her first big action role brings a powerful intensity to the screen. Additionally, Manoj Pahwa plays a mentor figure to Alia and plays his part with perfection.
The film also features a talented supporting cast who perform their parts very well. However, the key plot points sometimes feel a little rushed or underdeveloped. The first half takes more time to build and feels dragged, breaking the flow for the audience. Usually, the jailbreak film has thrills, but Jigra has more emotions. If the screenplay had more tighter, it would have been better. Some scenes that should have evoked empathy or tension often fall flat. This also makes the movie a little predictable. The BGM is the highlight of Jigra. It uplifts the emotions.
Final Verdict
Jigra is a story of courage, passion, and determination. The sibling relationship featured in the movie is something that will surely win your heart. It is a riveting thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. A must-watch if you’re a fan of both action and emotional movies. We rate this movie 3.5 out of 5 stars.
