Kangana Ranaut portrayed the role of former and India’s first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. Emergency is based on India’s darkest chapter of Emergency, set in 1975. Kangana Ranaut has directed the film. She is also the producer and has produced under her banner Manikarnika Films, along with Zee Studios. Emergency stars Kangana Ranaut, Mahima Chaudhry, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, late Satish Kaushik, Milind Soman, and Vishak Nair in pivotal roles.

Kangana has shared the post on her Instagram story and confirmed the streaming date. She wrote, “17th March releasing on @netflix”.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency is based on Indira Gandhi steered through wars, political issues, and the most controversial and darkest chapter in India, the Emergency period from 1975 to 1977. The film takes you to the political turmoil of the time in the 1970s through the lens of Indira Gandhi’s leadership. It covers not only the political tension that arose during the time of Emergency when democracy was suspended but also the Bangladesh Liberation War, Operation Blue Star, and the rise of Khalistani separatism and the impact of these events on the people around her.

The way she carried Indira Gandhi’s persona, aura, body language, and dialogue delivery is speechless. Not only this, she perfectly encapsulates the emotional complexities of Indira Gandhi. She will be the front-runner for the National Award with this one.
