Kangana Ranaut Reveals The Script Is Ready For The Film On Bilkis Bano But Lack Of Support From Top Studios

The Gujarat government’s decision to grant early parole to the 11 life-sentenced prisoners who were found guilty of gang-raping Bilkis Bano and killing her family during the 2002 riots was overturned by the Supreme Court on Monday. After this ruling, Kangana Ranaut revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that no big studio or OTT platform has expressed interest in supporting the movie, even though she has a script based on the life of Bilkis Bano.

Kangana Ranaut Promoting Women’s Empowerment

When a fan replied to Kangana’s earlier tweet discussing “dedicating her life to women empowerment films,” the discussion continued. Would Kangana be “interested in telling the story of Bilkis Bano with a powerful movie?” the admirer posed to her. In response to the fan’s post, the actor expressed her desire to direct a film on Bilkis Bano. The script for the movie is finished, but Kangana disclosed that no significant studio is prepared to support the endeavor.

She wrote,

“I want to make that story I have the script ready, researched and worked on it for three years but @netflix , @amazonIN and other studios wrote back to me that they have clear guidelines they don’t do so called politically motivated films, @JioCinema said we don’t work with Kangana because she supports BJP and Zee is going through a merger, what are my options?”

A Stand Against Misogyny

Kangana had earlier said that the Ranbir Kapoor film Animal was misogynistic. She also chastised the crowd for going to see “women beating films” in theaters. The actor said his profession may change in the upcoming years, calling this trend “discouraging.”

She wrote, “Paid negativity for my films is overwhelming; I have been fighting hard so far, but even audiences are encouraging women to beat films where they are treated like sex objects and asked to lick shoes. This is deeply discouraging for someone who has been dedicating her life to woman empowerment films, might shift her career in the coming years, and wants to give the best years of my life to something worthwhile.
