After the success of Khakee: The Bihar Story, Neeraj Pandey is back with another chapter of Khakee, ‘Khakee The Bengal Chapter.’ It was created by Neeraj Pandey, and directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray. It is produced by Friday Storytellers. The series stars Jeet, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Chitrangada Singh, Ritwik Bhowmik, Aadil Zafar Khan, Parambrata Chatterjee, and Pooja Chopra. It is a seven-episode series with an approximate runtime of close to 50 minutes per episode and is streaming on Netflix.
Khakee The Bengal Chapter Story
Khakee: The Bengal Chapter kicks off with Bagha Da (Saswata Chatterjee) staking his claim to power. Soon after, we meet IPS officer Saptarshi (Parambrata Chattopadhyay), a man determined to cleanse Bengal—both figuratively and literally. But his shocking early demise shakes up the city, forcing it to wake up to some harsh realities.
As the story unfolds, we see how politics and crime are two sides of the same coin. A new police officer steps in to take over the case, just as Barun Das (Prosenjit Chatterjee), a cunning political leader, enters the picture. He operates from the shadows, pulling the strings of dangerous criminals to keep his political empire running. But his reign doesn’t go unchallenged—enter Arjun Maitra (Jeet), an upright and fearless cop, who refuses to bow down. He finds himself up against Barun Das’s most dangerous pawns—the sharp and calculative Sagor Talukdar (Ritwik Bhowmik) and the unpredictable, hot-headed Ranjit Thakur (Aadil Khan).
Khakee The Bengal Chapter Review
Director Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray and writers Neeraj Pandey, Debatma Mandal, and Samrat Chakraborty did a good job of delivering an engaging mix of crime, politics, and action. However, the storytelling is predictable. The show is close to six hours and it feels stretched and struggles to build suspense in a way that keeps viewers truly invested.
Talking about the performances, Jeet does a decent job as Arjun Maitra. He balances the act between a calm investigator and an action-packed cop. Parambrata Chatterjee leaves an impact. Pooja Chopra was good in her limited screen presence. She was sincere in her role and wish to see more of her. Ritwik Bhowmik fits into the skin of the character. Chitrangada Singh was good in her character. Aadil Zafar Khan, Aakanksha Singh, and Mimoh Chakraborty contribute well to the narrative. Saswata Chatterjee is menacing as Bagha, delivering brutal scenes that enhance the show’s dark undertone. Prosenjit Chatterjee plays Barun Da, a power-hungry politician, with ease.
The political unrest, the crime-ridden backdrop, and Kolkata city’s raw energy are well captured, making the world of Khakee: The Bengal Chapter feel authentic. Despite its action-packed sequences and political drama, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter looks predictable. Also, the runtime tests your patience.
Final Verdict
Khakee The Bengal Chapter has strong direction, solid cinematography, and a stellar cast—but where it falters is its predictable plot and screenplay. If you are a fan of crime thrillers, you might like Khakee The Bengal Chapter.
