Bollywood is going through a rough patch. Many movies are getting flopped at the box office. Recently, Shamshera, Lal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan, and Do Baaraa all faced backlash at the box office. Vijay Deverakonda made his Bollywood debut with Liger. Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday, Mike Tyson, and Ramya Krishnan are in pivotal roles. The film has received negative reviews. Vijay Deverakonda expected it to be one of the biggest blockbusters. However, Liger will surely be one of the biggest disasters of this year. Vijay Deverakonda and other actors’ fees in Liger are also massive.
In a recent Koffee With Karan episode, Vijay Deverakonda made some shocking revelations. Earlier, he claimed the film would exceed INR 200 crores in theatres alone. He wrote in a tweet,
“Too little. I’ll do more in the theaters.”
Manoj Desai Lashes Out At Vijay Deverakonda
Vijay Deverakonda also commented on the boycott trend and responded that he is not scared. However, on the first day, Liger turned out to be an epic disappointment. The owner of Gaiety Galaxy theatre Manoj Desai claims he faced a huge loss in advance booking of Liger and blamed Vijay Deverakonda for it. He slammed Vijay Deverakonda for his arrogance and remarks on the boycott trend. In an interview, he said,
“Why are you showing smartness by saying ‘Boycott our movie’? People won’t even watch on OTT. Such behavior of yours has put us in trouble and impacting our advance bookings. Mr. Vijay, you are anaconda, not ‘Konda Konda.’ You are talking like an anaconda. ‘Vinaash kaale vipareet buddhi’, when the time of destruction inches closer, the mind stops working, and you are doing that. anyways, it’s your wish.”
He also mentioned what happened with Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Taapsee Pannu’s films at the box office. Manoj Desai added,
“Mr. Vijay, it seems you have become arrogant, ‘Watch the movie, or if you don’t wish to then don’t watch, haven’t you seen its impact? If the audience will not watch, see what Taapsee Pannu, Aamir Khan, and Akshay Kumar are going through. I had high expectations from the movie, but such statements during the interview have had harsh impacts. One shouldn’t do this and never pay heed to hashtags.”
People even trolled Ananya Panday for her overacting. Overall, Liger is unbearable to watch. Have you watched the film Liger? How did you find it? Let us know in the comments below.
