‘Kitne aadmi the?’ 5,52,34,000. Ever famous for its dialogues, Sholay sold out that many number of tickets in that era; making it the longest run movie in the Bollywood. The scenes are still evergreen in all Bollywood fans’ hearts.
3. Baahubali 2
If there’s an Indian movie which could produce craze for it even amongst the foreign audience, then it’s definitely Baahubali. The crew of Baahubali has 25 national award-winning artists, making Baahubali 2 a blockbuster which managed to sell 5,40,43,000 tickets across the globe!
4. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha
A romance set made during Independence of 1947, was a major hit of 2001. It’s a perfect blend of love, patriotism, drama and entertainment. With the powerful verses said by Sunny Deol in the movie which still manage to stir emotions, the film managed to sell 5,09,54,000 tickets on the stand.
5. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
Raj’s endless cheese bombers and Simran’s cute reactions to that are an all-time favourite for all of us. Maratha Mandir, still shows this movie in the theatre every year! Thus, this movie has to make it to the list, with an unshakable number of 4,80,89,000 tickets sold over the years.
6. Raja Hindustani
When we think of this movie, the first thing that comes to our mind is the gem songs that it has blessed us with Pardesi Pardesi jana nahi and the Passionate Kiss between Aamir and Karishma. The songs are still a part of the playlist of many people in the country! The movie has sold a huge number of 4,09,56,000 tickets.
7. Border
This movie is every dialogue instils a patriotic fire in our souls and makes it ignite brighter with every passing minute of the movie. Hence, without a second thought, this film has to be included in this list with a sale of over 3,70,21,000 tickets!
8. Dangal
The movie released in 2016, shook the entire box office with a phenomenal sale of 3,69,32,000 tickets. The crew had worked super hard for it and it paid off right. The life story of wrestler beautifully portrayed.
9. Kuch Kuch Hota Hain
With the best trio at Bollywood featuring in this movie, nothing could go wrong and assisted with the right amount of humour, melodies and heart-warming scenes. This film has taken a permanent place in Indian cinemas favourite movies with a sale of about 3,56,11,000 tickets all over.
10. Bajrangi Bhaijaan
This heart-melting story and a spectacular performance by Salman Khan, Harshali Malhotra and Nawazuddin weaved a beautiful magic for the audience. The film sold a whopping 3,54,12,000 tickets, making it a blockbuster!
11. Sultan
Another Salman Khan movie, another blockbuster and another movie in the list of most selling tickets in Indian cinema. Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sultan broke many records in box office. As per the reports, Sultan sold more than 3,23,43,000 tickets.
12. PK
This movie has to be on the list of most sold tickets in Indian cinema. Trio of Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Aamir Khan do wonders when they come together. Movie was All time blockbuster and it sold 3,50,76,000 tickets.
13. 3 Idiots
This is my favorite and I am sure many of you has this movie in their favorite list. It sold a whopping 3,17,35,000 tickets in its run.
