For Hulu and Disney, Only Murders in the Building has been an enormous success. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez play three misfit podcasters who investigate homicides in the New York apartment building where they reside in the cozy comedy. With one case closed at the end of Season 2 and another one starting in Season 3, the actor Ben Glenroy’s (Paul Rudd) murder served as the focus of the third season. At the conclusion of that series, Glenroy’s murder was discovered, and then another murder took place. Continue reading to learn who died and how it affects the Season 4 plot. Spoilers ahead, beware!
Only Murders In The Building: Season 3 Ending
Characters in Only Murders in the Building’s third season celebrate Oliver Putnam’s (Short) play’s spectacular opening night as the case is closed. During those celebrations, Charles-Haden Savage’s (Martin) former stunt double and occasional love rival, Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), makes an appearance. She appears with a box of beer and, dressed as Charles as usual, cracks a joke about taking all of the characters’ keys.
Sazz informs Charles that she has to talk to him about something delicate. Afterward, he replies that he’s going to his apartment to get a fantastic bottle of Argentinian Malbec. Charles is struck in the chest by a bullet that comes through his kitchen window as he enters it in the dark, with only his silhouette visible.
Then, the camera pans over the body to show that Sazz, not Charles, is the one who died and is lying lifeless on the ground. Pataki looks to begin writing something in the blood on the floor as she touches the blood dripping from her wound with her hand. When the credits start to roll, it becomes apparent that someone wants Charles dead. Season 4 will focus on Sazz Pataki’s murder inside the structure.
Buzz Around Season 4
A fourth season of Only Murders in the Building appears likely, given the popularity of the first three. The show’s co-creator, John Hoffman, is undoubtedly eager to continue it.
Hoffman responded to ScreenRant when asked how many seasons he wanted, “As many as they’ll have us for! Honestly, I do. I know I speak for the trio and everyone else when I say that everyone participating in this show is having a great time working on it. When you have lightning in a bottle in this sense, this great power of skill draws people in and makes them think, “Wow, that sounds like fun.” I would really like to take part in that. I wish you a long and healthy life.
Currently, Only Murders in the Building can be seen online on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US. Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building is expected to arrive in the Summer of 2024. However, Hulu has yet to confirm the official release date of Season 4.
