According to trade reports, the film has generated more than Rs 100 crore (net) in India in just five days, with over Rs 10 crore earned on its Day 5 Tuesday, May 2. In the Tamil-speaking regions, overall occupancy was 33.20%.

With this, the total domestic collection of PS 2 is Rs 114.75 crore. The film has also received a positive response from audiences worldwide. Lyca Productions tweeted about its performance in the US market, saying, “Over 3.5 million $ grossed in the first weekend! Thank you for the love! #PS2 marks number 8 at the US weekend box office!” The film’s worldwide gross has already surpassed Rs 250 crore.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 has been doing well in theatres for the previous five days. The film is on its way to earning Rs 250 crore worldwide and is expected to do so by the end of this week. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is also performing well in the United States. It has raised nearly $3.5 million (roughly Rs 28 crore) in five days.

Ponniyin Selvan is an adaption of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s famous Tamil literary novel of the same name. Jeyamohan wrote the film, which was shot in two parts. This epic stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi in the lead parts. Ponniyin Selvan, produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, has music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi Varman, and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
