The runtime of Pushpa 2 is 3 hours 20 minutes. Yes, it is long, but trust me 3 hours and 20 minutes is a thrilling ride.
Pushpa 2 The Rule Story
The story of Pushpa 2 The Rule starts from where the first part ended. It takes you to Pushpa Raj’s (Allu Arjun) intense world of red sandal syndicate. Pushpa lives in a lavish bungalow with his mother (Kalpalatha), and wife Srivalli (Rashmika Mandanna). The stakes are higher this time. His old nemesis is not ready to leave him. SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil) whose ego is clashing with Pushpa Raj.
The other is Pushpa’s half-brother Mohan Raj (Ajay), who never misses an opportunity to humiliate him in public. They have a grudge against Pushpa and are all set to destroy Pushpa’s legacy. The sequel delves deeper into Pushpa’s struggles, both personal and external, leaving fans wondering: will Pushpa outwit his foes, or does the story hold unexpected twists?
Pushpa 2 The Rule Review
Director Sukumar is a genius. The duo of Sukumar and Allu Arjun worked wonders in the past too. The newest fans of Allu Arjun and Sukumar may not know this. Before Pushpa The Rise, the duo worked together in Arya and Arya 2. They know how to create magic on screen. Pushpa 2 The Rule was carrying the huge burden of expectations, because of what Sukumar delivered in ‘Pushpa The Rise’. Pushpa 2 The Rule is where the genius of director Sukumar truly shines. He beautifully crafted this mass entertainment with emotions, high-octane action scenes, swag, humor, and unexpected twists and turns.
The dialogues of the film are whistle-worthy. The extensive run time of 3 hours and 20 minutes does not feel lengthy. The editor Naveen Nooli does a terrific job of keeping the pace of the film intact. Mirosław Kuba Brożek’s cinematography is top-notch. He vividly captures the high-octane action scenes and emotions that offer a visual delight. The background music fits perfectly in the tone.
The music of Devi Sri Prasad elevates the narrative. The songs Peelings and Kissik fit well into the narrative and do not break the momentum and flow of the story. Also, you will not be able to take your eyes off Sreeleela in the ‘Kissik‘ song. However, this is one area where Pushpa 2 The Rule lags behind Pushpa The Rise. Pushpa The Rise had songs like Teri Jhalak, Oo Bolega, and Saami that were chartbusters. Pushpa 2 The Rule soundtrack may not grab your attention like its predecessor.
Pushpa 2 The Rule Performances
Allu Arjun is a wildfire in Pushpa 2. He gets into the skin of the character of Pushpa Raj so deeply that you cannot even imagine any other actor in this role. The stylish star Allu Arjun delivers one of his career-best performances in Pushpa 2 The Rule. His dialogue delivery, swag, emotions, and energy are simply astonishing. The Jathara sequence is the highlight.
Rashmika Mandanna is brilliant as Srivalli. She gives much-needed emotional support to Pushpa. Though the film revolves around Pushpa, Rashmika makes her presence felt in the film. The chemistry between the two is captivating. Rashmika pulls off the monologue superbly where she defends her husband Pushpa. Fahadh Faasil as ruthless SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat is brilliant. He as an antagonist, fits well opposite Allu Arjun. Other actors Ajay, Rao Ramesh, Jagapathi Babu, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Saurabh Sachdeva, Kalpalatha, Pavani Karanam, and Sritej also played their part well.
The first half is packed with solid build-up. Allu Arjun’s entry and interval block stand out. The second half is somewhere the film falters. The crisp screenplay, terrific performances, emotions, action sequences, and climax overshadow these drawbacks. Also, the chapter is not over with Pushpa 3 The Rampage is coming.
Final Verdict
Pushpa 2 The Rule exceeds the expectations. The film is filled with emotions, humor, stunning visuals, high-octane sequences, peppy soundtracks, and character-driven moments. Sukumar’s sheer brilliance in direction, along with Allu Arjun’s outstanding performance creates magic on-screen. Do not miss this on the big screen. We give the film 4 stars out of 5.
