Recently, he played the role of Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. The negative role could have degraded his status in Bollywood but the 32-year-old actor pulled off success with it. Recently in an interview, he talked about the need of versatility trait in acting.
Ranveer Sing Wants To Introduce That Chameleon-Like Personality
He said, “You watch one film of an actor and then the other one and you can’t believe it is the same person… I used to find that very fascinating. Actors who have that chameleon-like quality, they are able to be anything. I have always aspired to be like that.”
He Is Doing Different Kinds Of Roles
It is his aim to do different kinds of role and introduce that appealing chameleon-like personality. In his upcoming movie Simmba, he is playing the role of a cop. Moreover, he will be seen in the role of a rapper in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy.
“I Want Audience To Expect The Unexpected”
He told that he wants to surprise the audience each time he works in a movie. He said, “For me, it is important to keep switching it off drastically for myself and for my audience. I want the audience to expect the unexpected. As an audience, it is very exciting to have this thought that what this performer will do next. That is something I aspire to have for myself. It is a constant endeavor to be a versatile performer.”
With Success, There Comes The Sense Of Responsibility
He further continued, “There is a sense of responsibility that comes with it (success) that is without having an inflated or delusional sense of self-importance. Being in the position that I am in, it comes with a certain level of responsibility, what kind of cinema I am choosing to be part of. My endeavor is to do films that have the best of both the worlds”
He Wants To Do The Films That Grow Indian Cinema Worldwide
Ranveer also disclosed that he wants to do the films that grow the Indian film industry, globally. He said “I am not here to do films that come and go and score just big numbers but have absolutely no lasting memory. So the attempt is to do films that can grow and develop the film industry, that can do well for the commerce side of things and yet be world-class.”
“I Think We Have The Potential To Do It”
Ranveer Singh believes that Bollywood can produce the content that will be appreciated all over the globe. Talking about the global appeal he said, “I want material that has global appeal to be produced in India. I think we have the potential to do it. I have been interacting with new-age filmmakers who have a different vision.”
