Reason Why OMG 2 Asked To Have 20 Cuts And ‘Adults Only’ Certification

Oh My God 2, starring Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi, will be released in just 15 days. We are still waiting for details on the film’s release scenario. OMG 2 remains stuck at the censor board. Furthermore, no one has been able to delve deeply into the underlying cause of the concerns from CBFC.

What Is Problematic With Oh My God 2?

A source close to CBFC claims that the central plot of Oh My God 2 is problematic. According to a source, CBFC doesn’t intend to aggravate religious feelings in the same way as Adipurush did. A source told Bollywood Hungama,

“While OMG 2 speaks about s*x education on the face of it, there is a major conflict in the film that deals with m*st*rb*tion. While it’s an extremely brave subject and tackled with the utmost sensitivity, the CBFC feels that the religious angle could hurt the sentiments of the Indian audience. They are hence being super cautious to grant a certificate.”

Censor Board Doesn’t Seem Sure About OMG 2

The censor board is giving OMG 2 highly positive reviews. And is also gushing over Akshay Kumar for once again choosing such a daring and original theme. The source stated,

“However, they aren’t sure if the Indian audiences are ready for a bold film like OMG 2 that mixes m*st*rb*tion and s*x education with God and religion. OMG 2 is essentially a courtroom drama that pushes a father to fight for a child against all odds, and the case has a connection of s*x education.”

OMG 2 Got A Standing Ovation

The source went on to say that the censor board gave OMG 2 a unanimous standing ovation. He shared,

“The film got a standing ovation too, but the ovation and claps were in the closed corridors in the dark at the screening. It’s easy to appreciate the content in closed corridors but difficult to take ownership in the larger scheme of things in bright sunlight. Once the members came out of the darkness, they were compelled to think about the cons of this subject.”

20 Cuts To Be Made

via

OMG 2 has been requested to have 20 cuts made (audio, video, or audio-visual combined) and is prepared to give it an Adult Only Certificate to the makers. However, “Akshay and team are however fighting and appealing for a U/A certificate from CBFC,” the source told.

The release date of Oh My God 2 is set for August 11, 2023. Now there is news that the film may likely get postponed as makers want to fight against CBFC over 20 cuts. Stay tuned! Tell us your opinions with us in the comment section below. We are waiting for your response!
