Shamshera, essayed by Ranbir Kapoor, a Khameran tribal leader, assists Rajputs during their battle against Mughals. After the battle, Khamerans try to settle in the city of Kaza. However, they are banished because of their lower caste status. The Khameran turns into plunderers. They make life a living hell for Kaza’s higher caste wealthy residents. The Kaza people seek help from the British government. Inspector Shuddh Singh, portrayed by Sanjay Dutt, is given the responsibility. Shuddh Singh offers Shamshera to surrender, and in return, he will allow the rest Khamerans to settle. Shamshera agrees, and the rest of the tribals are taken to Kaza Fort, where Shuddh Singh betrays them and imprisons all Khamerans. Shamshera loses his life while battling for the freedom of his people. 25 years later, his son Balli played by Ranbir Kapoor, rises to free his people from Shuddh Singh and the British.

Shamshera Review

The Bollywood industry had high hope for this mega-budget Yash Raj film Shamshera. However, the film turns out to be an utter disappointment. The story looks like a mixture of Baahubali, Thugs of Hindostan, and KGF. Director Karan Malhotra failed to create the same magic as Agneepath. The story is outdated and slow-paced. Talking about the performances, Ranbir Kapoor put his heart and soul into Shamshera and Balli. However, it looks like even his performance cannot save this film. Sanjay Dutt’s character is a big letdown. Vaani Kapoor looked beautiful.

The other actors, Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla, and Iravati Harshe, have little to do in the film. The music of the film is also appealing. The cinematography, visual effects, and VFX are top-notch. Still, it is not enough to save this sinking ship. Shamshera has an outdated predictable plot, and only die-hard Ranbir Kapoor fans can watch this film. We give Shamshera 1.5 stars out of 5.
