After a short stint with modeling, Taapsee made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam, directed by Raghavendra Rao. Since then, she has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films such as Aadukalam, Vastadu Naa Raju, and Mr. Perfect. Her Tamil film Aadukalam won six National Film Awards at the 58th National Film Awards. She has also worked in a Malayalam film and has been signed on for three Telugu films and several Hindi films.
Taapsee worked as a software professional and also pursued a career in modeling before becoming an actress. During her modeling career, she appeared in a number of commercials and won titles such as “Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face” and “Safi Femina Miss Beautiful Skin” in 2008.

“Modelling was my first ever job, so it’s a very nostalgic moment for me to be a part of ‘India’s Next Top Model’. Modelling is not just about being pretty, a perfect model is one who has a blend of tranquility and personality,” Taapsee said in a statement.
Taapse once joined beauty retailer Nykaa’s #BreakTheHashtag campaign. In a video for it, Taapsee celebrates her many roles as a fighter, rebel, engineer, and actor, breaking the stereotype that women are defined by a single role.
“As women, we play a different role every hour of the day. Not only are we a homemaker, wife, sister, daughter, we`re also entrepreneurs, the boss, actors. So let’s just break the hashtag,” the Pink and Naam Shabana actress said in a statement.
