One of the much-awaited movies of 2019, Student of the Year 2 hit the theatres today. The trio of Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday, and Tara Sutaria has given amazing performances in the predictable story. Tiger Shroff has charismatic screen presence but it is Ananya Panday who shines in her debut movie; Tara Sutaria has been impressive. Directed by Punit Malhotra, Student of the Year 2 is a sequel of 2012 hit film Student of the Year which launched Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Siddharth Malhotra.
Student Of The Year 2 Story:
Based on the college campus drama, it is the story of a small town boy Rohan Sehgal played by Tiger Shroff who is madly in love with his childhood friend Mridula played by Tara Sutaria. Rohan follows her and takes admission to Saint Teresa College, Mussoorie through sports quota. Aditya Seal portrayed the character of Manav who is the current poster boy of the college. Ananya Panday as Shreya played an eccentric rich spoiled brat. The new term has new competition, new friends and as you already have seen in the previous movie, the focus is not on studies but on winning the prestigious Student of the Year, this time it is through Kabaddi Match. Who will become the Student of the Year this year is the question?
Student Of The Year 2 Reviews:
Similar to first Student Of The Year, its sequel is also equally glossy and vibrant. Tiger Shroff hits the bull eye when it comes to action and dance. Tara’s character seems underwhelming as she seems quite flippant in her given choices. But it is the character of Ananya Panday who outshines. Her character got a definite curve with a convincing backstory which worked in her favor. Aditya Seal played his part to perfection with class and appeal.
There is a lot of drama and action which is not inside the classroom. The main focus is on dance and sports and of course, romance, If the love triangle lacks in spark, it is Tiger and Aditya’s bromance which makes up for it. A two and a half hour movie seems quite long with music is just average and the story is predictable. This Student of the Year 2 doesn’t have the same Ishq wala love but it has plenty of Kabaddi, friendship and a visual treat. The trailer of SOTY2 created the buzz but it may not be the case with the actual movie. Go for the movie only for the finest performance of debutant and don’t expect the same spark as the first one. We give 2 stars out of 5.
