The film earned Rs 12 crore on Wednesday, a 7.72 percent increase. ‘The Kerala Story’ debuted with Rs 8.03 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 11.22 crore on Saturday, Rs 16.40 crore on Sunday, Rs 10,07 crore on Monday, Rs 11.14 crore on Tuesday.

‘The Kerala Story’ has earned a phenomenal Rs 68.86 crore to date, and if the current trend continues, the film will easily reach the Rs 100 crore club this weekend.
The Kerala Story’s overall box office stands at a massive Rs 68.86 crore. Leaving behind the most influential films from the previous two years combined, including Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee, and Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada. The picture is on track to outperform even Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa. Which grossed more than Rs 90 crore in its lifespan and more than three times the amount of Ponniyin Selvan 2 in the Hindi market. The Hindi dubbed version of the Tamil blockbuster grossed roughly Rs 21 crore.
The Kerala Story Controversy
Because of its contentious nature, ‘The Kerala Story‘ has recently become the talk of the town. According to reports, the film is based on a true story. That includes three Kerala women who were duped into joining ISIS in Syria and Iraq through love jihad. The key actors in ‘The Kerala Story’ are Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani. Sudipto Sen directed it, while Vipul Amrutlal Shah produced it.
The Kerala Story follows a Hindu woman from Kerala who is misled and converted by Islamic companions. The film has been on the radar due to its delicate theme and is facing several restrictions and threats. The film, directed by Sudipto Sen, premiered in theatres on May 5 amid a slew of controversy.
Various places have witnessed the eruption of protests following political leaders’ statements that the film was intended to incite hatred against religion. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has vehemently criticized the film’s makers for damaging the image of the southern state. The authorities have banned the film in West Bengal. And Tamil Nadu cinema owners have refused to exhibit it, citing fear of peace and order. On the other side, ‘The Kerala Story’ is now tax-free in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
