Vanvaas Movie Review

The story of Vanvaas explores themes of honor, family, and self-acceptance. It also has a contemporary touch that helps to appeal to audiences. The director and the writer perfectly reveal the genuine relationships that are based on love and acceptance rather than just hereditary ties. Adding to it, Vanvaas has the occasional humor, that provides a little relief from the emotions.

Regarding the cast performances, Nana Patekar is always exceptional in his role. He is the heart of the film. His dialogue delivery and expressions are top-notch. Utkarsh plays his character with the perfect charm but has a stereotypical role. Simrat also did a good job in her role. Additionally, Rajpal Yadav brings his expertise with his humor. However, several other supporting cast members leave little impression.

Although the background music tries to set up the mood according to the theme, the technical aspects of the movie could have been better. Additionally, the second half of the movie gets a bit slow, and some scenes could have been cut-trimmed. The story is not something new and you can see it as a modern-day Baghban. However, weak character buildup impacts the narrative. A subject that could have been made in more better way with better character buildup, and better subplots. Nevertheless, director Anil Sharma has made the film that is an eye-opener.

Final Verdict

Vanvaas may seem like an outdated film, but to be honest, it is the need of the hour. A relatable film that shows the bitter picture of society. If you want to watch a film filled with emotions, Vanvaas is for you, a decent and emotional family entertainer.
