The Kashmir Files is one of the most impactful films of this year. It has portrayed the drastic realities of communal tensions in the best way possible. Therefore, the movie has many times landed in the pit of controversies. In the newest of controversies, IFFI jury head Nadav Lapid gave his derogatory remark on The Kashmir Files. Furthermore, it is safe to say that it has created a lot of buzz on social media. Hours after this remark, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri took to Twitter and made a cryptic post slamming Lapid.
Nadav Lapid’s Remark On The Kashmir Files
At the closing ceremony of the 53rd International Film Festival, IFFI jury chairman and Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid shared he was ‘disturbed’ to watch The Kashmir Files. Not just this, he also termed the film as pure ‘propaganda’. He said as we quote,
“All of us are disturbed. It felt to us like a ‘propaganda, vulgar movie’ inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious competition. I feel totally comfortable in sharing these feelings openly on stage since the spirit of the festival truly accepts critical discussion which is essential for art and life.”

Vivek Agnihotri Reacts To The Remark
Filmmaker of The Kashmir Files, Vivek Agnihotri, took to Twitter the very next day and reacted to Lapid’s remark. Hours after his film was termed ‘vulgar and propaganda,’ he made a cryptic post by saying,
Without mentioning the film or the incident, he subtly slammed Nadav Lapid. On the other hand, Anupam Kher, the lead actor in the film, also shared his views on Lapid’s statement saying it was nothing but ‘pre-planned’. On Tuesday morning, a day after the incident, he spoke to the media, thereby sharing,
“It seems pre-planned as immediately after that the toolkit gang became active. It’s shameful for him to make a statement like this. Jews have suffered Holocaust, and he comes from that community. For him to make such a statement, he has also pained those people who have been victims of this tragedy many years ago. May God give him wisdom so that he does not further his agenda on stage using the sufferings of thousands.”
Sudipto Sen Distanced Himself From Lapid’s Remark
Nadav Lapid’s remark created a lot of controversies. However, not all jury members concurred with what he thought or spoke at the festival. Jury member Supidto Sen shared Lapid’s remark as his personal opinion. Supidto took to Twitter and shared,
