In the show from July 21, social studies instructor Nik Berry of Baltimore, Maryland, defended his title against Ben Sasamoto of Minneapolis, Minnesota, an environmental consultant, and Taylor Clagett of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, a marketing director.
The syndicated game show’s official summary is as follows:
“A returning champion and two challengers test their buzzer skills and their knowledge in a wide range of academic and popular categories.”
Nik Berry, who won the Jeopardy! Game on July 20 and returned to play in a second game on Friday. Despite having triumphed in the previous episode, he struggled in the most recent matchup with Ben Sasamoto and Taylor Clagett.

The categories in the first round were ‘Happy 75th Birthday Israel!, Shakespeare, That Hollow Feeling, The Romaines Of The Day, Track & Field and Homophone Connection’.
In the first phase, all three players performed admirably. Ben jumped to the top spot faster thanks to the Daily Double; Taylor struggled initially but eventually equaled Ben’s score. Returning champion Nik, on the other hand, finished third. Taylor had a score of $3,800, Ben had a score of $3,800, and Nik had a score of $3,000.
The categories in the second round were “Explorers, Internally Yours, Old Hollywood Scribes, Motley Clues, Stately Demonyms, and Ends In ‘X.” Nik and Taylor both found Daily Doubles in the Double Jeopardy round. Both players gave wrong answers to their Daily Double questions, lowering their points. Ben did not receive a Daily Double advantage, but he did rank first in the second round. Ben had a score of $9,400, Taylor had a score of $5,400, and Nik had a score of $1,200.
Only Taylor successfully answered the final question in the Final Jeopardy round. Surprisingly, he was the only one of the three players with the most erroneous responses. However, his luck changed in the last round when he gambled all of his profits and thankfully supplied the perfect answer. Nik and Ben didn’t put up much money, yet they lost the game.
As a result, Taylor Clagett won Jeopardy!

The final clue/question for the “Numbers Old & New” category on the July 21 show was as follows:
“If you add the seven Roman numerals together, it is the sum total expressed in today’s numbers.”
The rcorrectresponse was “1666.”
Only Taylor provided the right response; Ben’s mistake cost him the game by forgetting to add a “1”. Nik also mistyped his response.
The Jeopardy! Season 39 In A Nutshell
In this episode, fans discovered a new winner, and Nik lost his status as the winner. Taylor won the day’s contest and will compete on the game show again the following week against two fresh opponents.
