When it comes to the Karan Johar backed picture released in 2013, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which starred Ranbir with Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin, there are no second thoughts.
Ranbir played Bunny in the love drama, Deepika as Naina and Aditya, and Kalki as Aditi and Avi, respectively. Their friendship and love stories were central to the picture.
Naina and Bunny are undoubtedly one of the most memorable on-screen lovers from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. At the film’s climax, love triumphed after much enjoyment, sentiments, sobs, and separation. Then, finally, they discover their love and decide to be together. On the other hand, fans are curious about what will happen next with the trio and their partners, and many have their own theories.
Ranbir’s Take On YJHD Sequel
In a recent virtual interaction with his fans, Ranbir Kapoor discussed Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Ranbir has stated that Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani would make an ‘excellent sequel’. He also said that filmmaker Ayan Mukerji had a ‘great story’ for the sequel but was too preoccupied with their film Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. When asked about the narrative of the film, Ranbir Kapoor stated it might be set “ten years in the future,” depicting where Bunny, Naina, Avi, and Aditi are in their lives. Ranbir said during a recent fan interaction,
“I think YJHD would make a good sequel… Ayan also had a very nice story, I remember, but then he went into this Brahmastra journey. But never say never. He might make it after a couple of years. I think the story will be 10 years forward when Bunny, Naina, Avi, and Aditi are where they are in their lives. I think it’ll be quite interesting and nice to explore those characters.”
Ranbir Kapoor previously discussed the sequel to Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani in 2018. In an interview, the actor stated,
“Ayan is on the journey to make Brahmastra, which is very time-consuming.” However, we have frequently discussed Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani 2. He also has a concept, and he rarely says, “We should have just done that; it would have been an easier film.” It’s easier than Brahmastra since he’s going insane producing this film. You just never know. Perhaps we have a six-month window between Brahmastra Parts 1 and 2.”
Ranbir’s Other Projects
Ranbir will be seen next in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, opposite Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. Before coming to the UK, the film was shot in Himachal Pradesh. A scene was also shot near Delhi at actor Saif Ali Khan’s Pataudi Palace. Animal will be released in theatres on August 11, 2023.
