Zero Se Restart a prequel to Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail has been released in theaters today. This movie throws light on the making of 12th Fail. The documentary shows all the different aspects like shooting, casting, and how no one wanted this film to be made. It was Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s conviction, that its producer-director made this movie a success and critically acclaimed.
Zero Se Restart Story
Zero Se Restart begins with the touching climax scene of the film and it then delves into the preparation for the 12th fail that went on for nine months. Director Jaskunwar Singh Kohli also gave the narration to the film and executed this task in a very stylish manner with texts and hilarious dialogues. This narrative is going on screen and in the background keeps the interest going.
This movie will inspire many film students, to that how Vidhu Vinod Chopra overcame all the challenges while making the movie. The shot timings are impeccable in many places and will leave the viewers in awe. The film highlights the difficulties faced during shooting in the crowd of Mukherjee Nagar and yet Vidhuji managed to get the shot. A few such memorable scenes are Vidhu scolding students for looking into the camera, Vidhu assuming that no one knows who Vikrant is, and his epic fight with a goon. Also, how he managed to find the railway canteen and flour mill are lovely scenes.
Zero Se Restart Movie Review
Zero Se Restart is a very well-presented making of the 12th Fail. The ongoing narrative by director Jaskunwar Singh Kohli keeps the interest going and holds the attention well, despite being a documentary. The 73-minute film has some unseen footage.
On the other hand, this film does not disclose some interesting facts about location and casting, that the audience might be interested in, like how the location of the final interval round scene was finalized and shot. Medha Shankr played a very crucial role in 12th Fail and became a sensation after the film. The documentary throws light on the casting of Vikrant Massey and even the supporting actors.
Talking about the music and other technical aspects, Shantanu Moitra’s song is not working much but the background score adds to the intrigue. Overall the sound could have been better as a few dialogues are not audible due to background noise and it’s a must that this film releases with subtitles. Being a BTS kind of film, the team should have considered having an OTT release over cinemas. Watching BTS footage on the big screen is something different for audiences. If opted for a theatre release, we think the release date could have been different as the fiery competition it is facing currently from Pushpa 2:The Rule, the movie further dents its prospects.
Final Verdict
Overall, Zero Se Restart is a very strategically planned venture as it is a compilation of behind-the-scenes and making of 12th Fail. Thus the investment is very low and the presentation is very interesting. The movie has the potential to attract film students, creative audiences, and artists.
